Ace Dental

Fast, discreet straightening from Ace Dental

While most people want straighter, more even teeth, we understand that traditional orthodontic metal braces can make you feel self-conscious. That’s why Ace Dental offers patients a variety of modern and discreet orthodontic treatment options to correct teeth and jaw misalignments without the need for obvious braces.

What problems can orthodontics fix?

Orthodontics can be used to treat a range of issues to give you a straighter, more even smile. Problems that orthodontics can be used for include:

  • Crooked or protruding teeth
  • Gaps between the teeth
  • Misaligned teeth
  • Crowded teeth
  • An overbite – where front top teeth protrude over lower teeth.
  • An underbite – where front bottom teeth protrude over upper teeth
  • An open bite – where the teeth don’t close properly.
  • A crossbite – where the upper and lower teeth don’t align correctly

How do braces work?

While not all braces are the same, braces generally work by applying pressure over a period of weeks or months to move teeth into the desired place for a more aesthetically pleasing smile.

Which different types of braces can I choose from?

Ace Dental offers a full range of fixed and removable braces. We know that traditional metal braces can be undesirable for many patients because of the look and feel of them in the mouth during treatment. So, in addition to traditional fixed braces, we also offer a choice of modern discreet appliances, including.

  • Invisalign® Clear, removable braces which are almost invisible when you smile. Custom-made aligners are created especially for you, which you wear for around 20 to 22 hours per day. They are changed every one to two weeks until you achieve your desired result. You remove your Invisalign braces when you want to eat and brush your teeth.
  •  Incognito Hidden Lingual braces: These fixed braces are a great choice if you don’t want anyone to know you are wearing braces as the brackets and wires fit behind your teeth rather than sitting at the front of your mouth.
  • Secret Smile braces: If your front teeth are the problem, you may wish to consider Secret Smile. They work in the same way as Incognito –  hidden behind your teeth. However, they are designed to work on the front six teeth which show when you smile. This makes them a popular choice among Ace Dental’s adult patients who need faster discreet straightening.

What can I expect during my orthodontic treatment?

During your first visit, our orthodontic team will assess your needs and goals, before helping you to explore the range of options available. Your teeth and jaw will also be thoroughly examined, and a 3D scan will be taken. Using this digital imaging technique, your dentist will be able to accurately plan your treatment and show you an image of the finished result before treatment begins.

All of this data is then sent to a dental lab so your customised braces or retainers can be made. Once your system is ready, your dentist will fit it for you on your next visit. If you choose Invisalign, your dentist will explain how to use the system at home, and you will attend regular check-ups throughout your treatment to monitor your progression.

How long does orthodontic treatment take?

Everyone is different and the time it takes to finish your treatment will depend on the starting condition of your teeth, the straightening system you choose and the results you wish to achieve. Treatment time can vary from a few months to over a year.

Will orthodontic treatment hurt or be uncomfortable?

As you get used to wearing your braces, you may experience brief periods of mild discomfort. Patients who opt for Invisalign may feel some discomfort whenever they switch to a new aligner but don’t worry – this doesn’t last long!
