For gentle, faster straightening

If you want to straighten crooked or protruding front teeth quickly, without having to wear a full set of braces, the Inman Aligner could be the answer. And your teeth could be guided into place in as little as six weeks.

What is the Inman Aligner?

Orthodontics has moved on from the time when bulky metal braces were your only option if you wanted to straighten and align your teeth. Now, there are many different types of orthodontic treatment to choose from, including braces and aligners. The Inman aligner is a removable custom-made device designed to straighten the visible front teeth quickly and comfortably.

Because the Inman Aligner only targets the front teeth, patients can achieve visible results much faster than with conventional braces. Constructed from clear plastic and metal, the aligner has two springs working in opposition to eachother to push the teeth towards the desired position.

How does the treatment work?

Your dentist will consult with you and carry out a thorough examination as well as taking scans and an X-ray to ensure that you are a good candidate for the Inman Aligner. They will take an impression of your teeth and this will be sent to the dental lab so they can produce a set of customer aligners designed to perfectly fit your mouth.

Once the aligners are ready, you will be invited back for another appointment so they can be fitted into your mouth. Using a coiled spring, the aligner applies force to the back of your teeth while a bar runs along the front of your teeth to put them in the right position. The two forces working against each other are the key to the quick results offered by this system.

You will need to wear your aligner daily for 16-20 hours to get optimal results. Your dentist will continue to monitor your progression until you get the best result for you and your teeth have moved into the correct position. After your treatment is complete, just as with any orthodontic treatment, you will be given a set of retainers to wear as advised by your dentist so you can prevent your teeth from relapsing.

How do I know if the Inman Aligner is right for me?

This system has been used successfully for many older teenagers and adults. It’s particularly popular among those who have had some orthodontic treatment when they were younger but have since suffered a relapse and would like their teeth repositioned.

What are the benefits of the Inman Aligner system?

There are now plenty of options to choose from to get a straighter, more even smile, and your dentist will be able to talk through the best options for you. The main benefits of the Inman Aligner are:

  • It is more discreet than traditional fixed braces
  • The only part visible at the front of your teeth is a fine metal bar
  • It’s a good option for patients who need minor alignment
  • It can also help if you have suffered some relapse following previous orthodontic treatment
  • The biggest benefit is the speed of treatment which generally takes four months or less
  • There is minimal discomfort
  • You can take it out so you can eat and drink in the normal way
  • You can also remove your retainer to brush and floss your teeth
  • Typically, you need far fewer visits to your dentist than with traditional braces

How long with the treatment take?

One of the main reasons so many people choose the Inman Aligner is the results that can be achieved within a short space of time. It is particularly popular among busy adults who don’t want the commitment of wearing a traditional brace for many months or even years. The length of time it takes for you to achieve the smile you want will depend on the placement of your original teeth. Most patients will experience noticeable results in around 6-18 weeks.

What happens after my treatment?

You will need to make sure your teeth stay in position after your aligner is removed. Your dentist will either bond a thin wire onto the back of your teeth, or will provide you with a slim retainer. While you may need to wear your retainer for longer lengths of time to begin with, as time goes on you can use this for just two nights a week to keep your new smile in position.
